Financial quotes are great for inspiring us to be better with money. Check out these four quotes from one of the best- Tony Robbins.
Who doesn’t love a good quote? Better yet, a good financial quote? One of my favorite ways to feel good about my finances is to listen and try to live by what the experts are saying. To kick off the holiday weekend, here are four of my favorite quotes from Tony Robbins, from his book ‘Money Master the Game’.
1. “The secret to wealth is simple: Find a way to do more for others than anyone else does. Become more valuable. Do more. Give more. Be more. Serve more.”
-Tony Robbins, Money Master the Game
You don’t create wealth by sitting on the couch, wishing you had more money. Most people who are wealthy have acquired their wealth by adding value to people’s lives. The more value you can add, the bigger potential you have for making wealth. If you focus your energy on adding value to the people you serve, money is bound to follow!
2. “Money is nothing more than a reflection of your creativity, your capacity to focus, and your ability to add value and receive back.”
-Tony Robbins, Money Master the Game
If you have negative thoughts around money and wealthy people, it’s time to change your thought pattern. Actually think for a moment of all the potentially great things you could do with an abundance of money. If your imagination and creativity weren’t restricted by your checking account, what kinds of things could you accomplish?
3. What matters is that you master money and it doesn’t master you. Then you are free to live life on your own terms.”
-Tony Robbins, Money Master the Game
Mastering your money isn’t something that suddenly happens overnight, it comes from a series of small financial habits that you implement, and work on, for the rest of your life. Good news, a lot of these things can be automated, so you don’t have to stress about them on a weekly or monthly basis! A master of their money would do things like paying themselves first, by immediately putting a percentage of their earnings into savings, and allocating a portion to be invested into retirement accounts for the future.
Someone who is not a master of their money will spend more than they earn, carry balances on credit cards, and let emotions like fear and pain decide how they spend their money. When you master your money, you use money as a tool to grow your net-worth and allow yourself to live a full life. When money controls you, there is likely a constant weight and anxiety around the topic of money that you’ve learned to live with. Remember, only you can make the decision to not live with that weight anymore, and become a master of your money.
4. “Remember, the goal is to take emotion out of investing because emotion is what so often destroys investing success, whether it’s greed or fear.”
-Tony Robbins, Money Master the Game
When you’re investing in the stock market, you’ll see a lot of what the experts call volatility. How quickly, and how far, an asset moves up and down will reflect how volatile it is. Twenty-year treasury bonds? Not so volatile. Bitcoin? Hella volatile. The key is to know that volatility does not equal risk and that neither risk nor volatility is bad. You’re probably familiar with the term “high risk, high reward” and it’s true. If you can master your emotions when it comes to investing, you’ll be able to stay in it for the long haul- which is one of the best ways to grow wealth.
